To The River

I can smell burnt nerves
below my nose
in this dizziness, caused by a fire;
there is not enough air left for me here.

I get drunk on fatigue
then I fall asleep in my fireplace
waking up, I wonder if it’s gone,
but there are ash stains on my forehead.

Eventually, the summer comes
I walk around in a cloud of frying flesh
getting darker, day by day
I smile; to the river.
