Vermont Correspondence: Obama Visit to Shut Down Parts of Burlington, Local Man Says

March 24th, 2012Burlington, VT.

President Barack Obama's visit to Patrick's Gymnasium in Burlington will shut down large areas of the city, a local man in the 1 bus from Church Street to Williston says. Sitting next to Better Than Sliced Bread reporter, the bearded sir in his desert camo jacket, bushy beard and thick eyebrows goes on to enumerate the effects of the first presidential visit to the state of Vermont since the Clinton administration.

The local man clearly versed in both newspapers and streetwise, expects the Air Force One and its support planes to land on the tarmac of the Burlington International Airport, from where President Obama will continue to University of Vermont campus area and, finally, Patrick's Gymnasium multipurpose facility. This move on part of the President will force closures and roadblocks on major roads from airport to campus, as well as redirection of traffic on interstates. An orange-colored mobile information screen on a trailer has already been positioned in the corner of University Heights and Main Street and will begin operation on Monday 26th to show temporary routes around the security perimeter.

Furthermore, Secret Service men in black are already sizing up downtown Burlington for potential security threats, the local man adds. According to him, snipers will be positioned on the roof of the Harris and Millis dormitories and adjoining dining hall, as well as the Living/Learning Center and other elevated structures in the vicinity of the multipurpose facility.

Other news media report that a local band has been scheduled to perform at the event. We here at BTSB, however, give voice to the local man. President Obama's visit is scheduled for March 30th and is a part of his re-election campaign. US citizens may purchase tickets to attend and support the Obama campaign.
