and you return
you return. it’s that time again, to come back to the familiar place and exist as if you belonged again. it’s an opportunity to think about seeing someone you haven’t seen in ages. to breathe the same air you used to. to see how things have stayed the same and how much they’ve changed without you.
so you return. you drive the car for the first time in a long time. some say it’s the same as riding a bike, but this bike weighs tons and is capable of destruction. but you drive anyway. it is scary for the first few seconds. after that it’s like driving a car.
and you return. you give her a ride. drive to the shop. do an errand. drive back. as much as it is the same old routines and cycles, it is still new somehow. the air is crisp, the car is old, the places around you are slowly showing their age.
what else could you do but return? there’d be nothing in not coming back? it is important that you make the choice to return, but it’s good if it feels like a necessity as well.
so you return. and you are there. with them. with the same olds and the oddly familiar news. it is good.
