Savoury Summer Recipes: Salsa and Guacamole

from ifood.tvOne of the things that I love most about summer is that you can eat outside (well, most day at least). If you have a picnic or a party to go to this summer, but you are not so sure what snacks to bring with you – fret not! I have a snack-idea for you that is both healthy and easy to make. A party in your mouth is guaranteed if you try salsa and guacamole with some tortilla chips. Now, I know what you are thinking: why go through the trouble of making my own salsa and guacamole when I could just buy those ready-made from the supermarket? Well, simply put: if you make it yourself it will taste better. Also, many of those ready-made guacamoles, for example, contain only about 3% of avocado, which is a shame, because avocado is one of the healthiest fruit on the planet. Did you know that one avocado is full of vitamins (K, E, C, and B5, B6, and B9) and contains 4 grams of protein, 11 grams of fiber, and only 0,2 grams of sugar? And the best part is that avocado is delicious. So, if you want to enjoy avocado-rich guacamole, make it yourself.

Salsa (for 4):

Chop 5 tomatoes

Chop ½ red onion

Mix all the ingredients in one large bowl and it’s ready!

Guacamole (for 4):

Chop 3 avocados

Chop 1-2 tomatoes

Chop ½ red onion

Chop ½ chili pepper and remove the seeds

Chop 1 bunch of fresh coriander

Squeeze 1-2 limes

Add olive oil (about 1 cup)

Add some salt

Mix all the ingredients in one large bowl and it’s ready!

Enjoy!
