Christmas is just around the corner, and in a jolly old fashion, the staff of BTSB have compiled a list of great Christmas movies for all of you to enjoy during the holidays!
This Must Be The Place
Sean Penn's stellar performance will lift you off your feet and take you on a journey into the real questions of human existence, from the nature of art to burdens of the past - a real treat to contemplate over long holidays and endless nights. It's a complex, beautiful movie with more to it than first catches the eye. That reminds me to schedule a new go at it as soon as possible.
Home Alone
The first movie that popped into my head was Home Along so I figured, yeah, why not? I mean, this movie has Christmas songs, Christmas miracles... Oh and Christmas mayhem! Oh and Macaulay Culkin running around screaming! And you might even get a bit teary eyed by the joyful reunion at the end... with that damn, beautiful music! But yeah, bad stuff happens to bad guys! And if that's not the spirit of Christmas, I don't know what is!
The Holiday
Romantic? Check. Funny? Check. Corny? Check. Jude Law? Check. The Holiday has it all. The movie is set around Christmas, but I keep coming back to it, Christmas or not. It always makes me feel better and after watching it I regain a bit of the hope I've already lost. On a cold winter night, one of the best things in the world is to sit tight on the sofa with a warm blanket and a cup of glögi in your mug watching corny romantic comedies. Yes, I've seen the movie at least ten times, I remember all the lines and I still cry more than once during the movie. No shame.
The Snowman
It just isn't Christmas without the Snowman.
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
Haha oh god guys you've gotta check out this film it's so terrible that it's amazing. No, I'm not kidding, this is a real thing.
